Additional CHOMP Information

Plunge into a fast-paced undersea world where life is survival of the quickest. Identify the lowest creature in the food chain then slap it before other players scarf it down. Big fish chomp little fish and everyone chomps plankton. Watch out for the ink-squirting octopus and if you spot an electric eel, get ready for an all-out feeding frenzy! Collect all the cards and you're ruler of the deep blue sea! Chomp! is a great tool to help teach children about the food chain. Players learn about the hierarchy of ocean species through employing skills such as visual discrimination and sequencing. It also helps to sharpen reflexes and teaches quick thinking and analysis while playing a fast-moving game. For 2 - 5 players. What Customers Say About CHOMP:

Our 7-year-old gave this to a pal for a birthday gift and loved it so much it was the ONLY thing she asked Santa for this Christmas. It kept us all busy on Christmas Day -- we even played with a 5-year-old (albeit a bit more slowly). Quick to learn and very addictive, teaches kids about the concept of the food chain.they'll beat the adults on the "Feeding Frenzies" many times because of their quicker reflexes. LOTS of fun, and portable so you can pack it and play it in motel rooms or tents when you're traveling (not practical to play in the back of a moving vehicle, however -- the kids were so hooked, they did try).

This is a very fun game for students to play. I am an ESOL teacher and used this game as one of the activities in teaching students about animals and the food chain. They loved it. The game is similar to War.

This game can go on and on, don't be afraid to adjust some rules to make this game more enjoyable for your little one and not so complicated. We have limited the slap jack part to just the electric eel card, which still annoys me and makes it difficult for a younger child to play with older children.

The food chain comes to life in this game of who eats who. My 6 yr old loves this game of War.

This is not my favorite part. Besides the plankton, shrimp, little fish, big fish and Shark, there are also electric eel cards and ink out octopus cards for added excitement.

The game is played like war, but the instructions add a slap Jack element. The ink out card prevents anyone from winning that set of cards and gives the person with less shark cards a chance to win shark cards from the other person.

The cards are made well.

I would reccommend this for 5-7 year olds. Gamewright has this way of taking an old standard- in this case slapjack- adding a couple minor improvements, and turning it into something that seems so much more. My 5 year old daughter loves this. not so much for older kids. I think beyond a certain age this game will lose a little of it's luster (Gamewright are masters at grabbing kids' attentions with fun visuals) and certainly any developmental benefit.

The chain is represented by plankton, shrimp, small fish, large fish, seals, and sharks. These cards are held to the side and included in the next hand's winnings. This is done by simulating the food chain in the ocean and being very quick to recognize cards and react faster than the other players. Chomp is a fast card game that works best with three or more players but still has several variations for use with two players. The game can them be resolved in one of three ways.Although this award-winning game is rated for ages six and up, my not-quite-four-year-old really enjoys playing and is able to hold his own. The player who is the lowest in the hand can't chomp anything. If an octopus comes into play, its ink keeps everyone from getting eaten.

There are penalties for chomping when you shouldn't or chomp the wrong thing.

There are also electric eels and octopus ink that add some twists. After the cards are evenly distributed among the players, they all reveal their top card simultaneously.

The first player to slap the eel and yell "Feeding frenzy." wins the hand.

The object is simple, get all of the cards.

If an electric eel is played, it starts a feeding frenzy (even if there is an octopus).

This card represents them in the food chain.

The object is to be the first player to slap their hand on the lowest link and yell "chomp." That player gets to collect the cards played.

Play continues until there are only two players left with cards.

Check it out.
